Website: Travel the world slowly and intimately with Window Swap

A simple but highly effective and intimate portrait of life at home created by Sonali Ranjit and Vaishnav Balasubramaniam. This website shows you views from random people’s windows around the world. It’s a slow tv zeitgeist of daily life and a glimpse into the lives of others. If you’d like to share, you can also submit a 10-minute horizontal video of your window view.

YouTube: Harvest crops for a visual feast in rural China with Liziqi

Equal parts ASMR, history lesson and cooking channel, Liziqi shares sublime videos of growing, harvesting and transforming seasonal foods into traditional Chinese dishes. This is all set in the stunning scenery of rural Mianyang (Sichuan), in her highly aesthetic home that she shares with her grandmother and a smattering of adorable animals. Put aside an hour or so for highly addictive marathon watching.

Lecture: Burn everything to the ground and start again after listening to Céline Sciamma

There are so many things I adore about Céline Sciamma’s approach to film making, art, feminism, and life in general but after spending too many hours trawling the depths of the internet, I found that this video sums everything up the best. In her talk, Céline explains her philosophy of writing as guided by desire. A few quotes that I loved:

“It’s not that hard not to objectify women".

“It is about the construction and being radical with yourself. Not self indulgent at all. It’s about resisting easy pleasures and resisting the temptation of belonging.”

“I wanted to craft a scene with the sexiness of consent.”

Article: Fan girl with Sharon Choi

I love this honest reflection by Sharon Choi, who was Parasite director Bong Joon Ho’s translator during the Awards Season last year, and is a filmmaker herself. It’s a fun piece of writing about abruptly gaining access to the film world’s most elite circle.

I told Phoebe Waller-Bridge that I wished for a Hot Priest for Christmas... I ended up at Taco Bell with Celine Sciamma at 4 a.m. musing about love and vulnerability.
