This September, The Other Art Fair will be held in Sydney for the first time. Hailing from London, it is the UK’s largest artist-led fair and features works by many emerging and mid-career artists with the goals of making art accessible and affordable for all. This year’s fair will be held in aMBUSH Project Space in Sydney and will be running at the same time as Sydney Contemporary and Volume Art Book Fair (talk about an exciting week!)...

Vanessa Low: Could you start with telling us how The Other Art Fair differs from regular art fairs?

Emilya Colliver: What’s different about The Other Art Fair is that it is an artist-led fair. This means that artists have their own booths, so when you come to the fair you will meet artists face-to-face, rather than with a traditional art fair where there will be galleries standing there that represent lots of different artists.

All of the artists have been selected by a committee consisting of 5 influential people in Sydney including Paris Neilson, Dick Quan, Mikala Dwyer, Virginia Wilson and Megan Robson. We had over 300 applications and only 80 artists were selected to get through...
